SUSTAINABILITY
One of the primary goals of Raven Bay Seafoods is to catch fish as humanely and sustainably as possible. Raven Bay uses pots to catch cod and octopus, ensuring that the only time the fish are stressed is when they hit the surface. This method keeps the fish calm and alive until removing them from the water. When the fish are landed, they are immediately bled and placed in 33° chilled seawater.
Once on shore, the fish are processed into IQF (individual quick freezing) cod filets, and gutted whole IQF octopus within 36 hours of capture. Pots are the most environmentally-friendly catch-method due to their very limited by-catch of non-target species and the very low impact to the seafloor. Other types of equipment, like longlines and trawls, don’t allow for the same quality and humane practices desired.
OUR STORY
ALASKAN FISHERFOLK
Raven Bay Seafoods was founded on the respect for – and frankly, the love of – nature. The crew lives and operates out of Unalaska-Dutch Harbor, Alaska, and fish twice-a-year for cod (from January 1st thru mid-March and again from September 1st until the closure).

Dustan & Evie Dickerson are long-time Alaskan fisherfolk and the owners of Raven Bay Seafoods, a family-owned business. They are small-boat, local lifestyle fishers who own and operate the 54’ F/V Raven Bay.
Dustan loves life on the ocean and he is proud to share in the lifestyle and in the cultural heritage of Alaska coastal communities going back for millennia. Evie is Alaska Native and comes from a fishing family in Metlakatla, Alaska.
